WDSRA and Special Olympics FAQ
Special Olympics FAQ
Special Olympics is a competitive program that allows participants to reach their fullest athletic potential. WDSRA will conduct athlete evaluations the first day of the program and divide up teams based on skill level. This evaluation process will ensure the safety of all athletes and allow teams to compete fairly against other similar level teams. Please note that teams will change from year to year and we will no longer create teams based on friends. Teams will be based on skill first and age second.

What does it mean when I register online that I do not have an updated pass? It is WDSRA policy that you must have a current medical form on file before registering so if your medical form expires before the designated date you will not be able to register online for that program.
How old do I need to be to compete in Special Olympics? Young Athletes program ages are 2-7 and Special Olympics programs require you to be 8 years of age or older.
What if I just want to play for fun? WDSRA offers many non-competitive athletic programs throughout the year. Please check our seasonal brochure for the latest programs offered.
Why do I keep receiving emails/letters to remind me about tournaments and their importance? Teams are created based on the total number of athletes we have registered for a program. Sometimes we have teams that have a smaller number of players and if one teammate is missing we may have to drop out of tournament at the last minute. We understand things come up last minute but it you know ahead of time you will not be able to compete in a competition it helps us in scheduling our teams.
