Message from the Director

Hello Friend and Families,
We’re excited to share the 2023-24 Gratitude Report! Each year, the report
provides a snapshot of our organization showcasing where we’ve been, how
we’re meeting service needs, and highlighting our achievements.

While the overall picture comes together smoothly, the journey can sometimes
take an unexpected turn. This year has been one of the most unique in our
nearly 50-year-history. The October 2023 flood at our building challenged
our staff and partners in ways that we hadn’t faced before. To navigate these
challenges, our team showed remarkable grit. Thankfully, adaptability is
our strength (hey, it’s what we do!). We are proud to say that we kept vital
services flowing into the community.

While we’re not completely on the other side of that event (yet), I can say
without a doubt that going through adversity only leads to a greater sense of gratitude. The outpouring of support from our
network of supporters has been amazing – from donated building space, traveling board meetings, and other logistical
pieces to new grants, donations and other financial contributions that minimized the impact of building repairs. We’re also
blessed with a Foundation board that continues to support our mission in dynamic ways.

Overall, WDSRA continues to grow and thrive. The demand for our services, especially in inclusion, has never been
higher. Our challenge continues to find creative means to meet those needs while also looking at new ways to position
WDSRA as a pillar of overall community health.
