         Hello Friends and Families,

It’s been an amazing year at WDSRA, filled with fun, friendship, and growth. We saw record demand for our services
and continued to serve at a high level despite 14 months of impact due to a flood at our administrative building.
Grant, fundraising and partner agency support remain strong, which underscores the support for our mission and
the evidence that it’s having an impact. We also completed year two of our strategic plan and set our sights on
ambitious goals for the next year.

While we operate at a local/park district level, I’ve had many discussions with similar agencies and non-profits
that share concern about the federal landscape and what it means to our population. There’s no crystal ball to
forecast the impact that certain actions may have, but please know our mindset remains focused on building the
most inclusive programs we can. I’ve heard from families that are concerned about changes to the Department
of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and other programs which support our
individuals. I encourage families, advocates and allies to stay informed and reach out to their representatives to
stress the importance of these issues at a national level. Together, we can help ensure access, opportunity, and
         inclusion for all.

Lastly, please continue to watch for updates and details surrounding our soon-to-be 50th anniversary of service.
Next year (2026) will be filled with activities and opportunities to celebrate the lasting impact and transformational
force that WDSRA has become. I’m so privileged to help lead this organization and hope that you join us in
celebrating what we have accomplished…and what we have yet to achieve!

         With gratitude,

         Dan Leahy
         Executive Director
